 Progressive Die Stamping

Progressive die stamping is a metal forming process in which a metal strip is converted into components during several staged operations. Multiple stations are set up along the production line, and each section performs different manufacturing tasks on the part as it is transported past. The individual pieces are connected to a rock strip and are eventually cut free at the final stage.

Compound Dies

Compound die stamping performs a series of individual or compound actions in one stroke instead of over the course of multiple passes. Cuts, bends, and punches are all accomplished almost simultaneously, making it an efficient forming method for flat parts. With only one pass, compound dies provide a cost-efficient way to produce simple parts quickly with high repeatability.

Transfer Dies

In transfer die stamping, every component is taken through the tooling process as an individual unit. Unlike progressive die stamping where separation occurs in the last step, the part is disconnected from the metal strip in the first operation so that more intricate design elements can be created. Finger-like appendages usher parts through the forming stations where individual actions occur.

Punching

Our tooling facility uses a punch press to create parts by placing the raw metal stamping materials between a die form and a hydraulic ram. When the ram is engaged, it punches a hole into the piece and forms the metal into the shape of the fixed, stationary die. In general, a punch press can produce large-scale orders of uniformly shaped components and is more efficient than hand punching.
